Josh Stoneman

.

1st Dan Judo, Club Coach

Biography:

I began Judo at age 10 training at a club local to me, Budo Shin Ryu, when I began to train more seriously I transitioned to Battlehill and ramped up my training.
Training at Battlehill also provided me huge opportunities to train with various Olympic Athletes such as Ashley McKenzie, Fraser Chamberlain and Nekoda Davis.
More recently I had the privilege to train with Olympian Sophie Cox at one of the countries England Talent Development Centres and train with some of the best players in the area.
My competitive Judo has allowed me to medal at various national events such as a bronze and a silver at the British Schools Championships along with Silver and Gold at the BJC National championships, another achievement was winning the first medal with the Northern Area team for around 30 years, a bronze at the National Teams Championships.
I have also had the honour of travelling abroad with Battlehill to fight in international competitions.
In March of 2020 I achieved my first Dan after accumulating my points in high level competition and finally passing my technical theory, this was all made possible through the coaching I received at Battlehill Judo Club.
