The North East Grand Prix Judo competitions were concluded with a presentation event at North Shields where awards were given to students and clubs who took part in the five 2018 events.

The events are a hosted by four local clubs, Battlehill, Butokokan, Juno Michi and Parks Judo Clubs with the five events held in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.
Unlike other similar events, all students from any organisation can take part in the tournaments which run under British Judo competition rules, and all competitors and club points are collated on an annual leaderboard. The event also has unique interlocking medals representing the North East of England.

The top 25 players were awarded free entry into all 2019 Judo Masterclass events and presented with winners certificates, also any competitor who won five medals from the five events were presentated with medal plaques to display their awards.
The top players were Michaela Sweeten (Sportif Blue), Joshua Chrisp (Juno Michi), Josh Stoneman (Battlehill), Ellie Hutton (Battlehill) all with 3 Gold and 2 silvers, Jemma Smith (sportif Blue) and Evan Anderson (Kodokwai) with 4 Gold and 1 Silver, and topping the leaderboard was Harrison Wood (Parks) who was the only person with 5 Golds, one from each event. Harrison was also awarded a priceof two top of the range Judo suits.

Thirty Eight clubs took part in the events and topping the medal table were Parks (9 Gold), Butokokan (10 Gold), Juno Michi (10 Gold), Thornaby (12 Gold), Sportif Maroon (14 Gold), Battlehill (14 Gold), and taking first place with a very impressive 34 Gold, 34 Silver and 38 Bronze Medals was Sportif Blue
